Glenn Agre Bergman & Fuentes LLP announced today that it has made Eddie Shapiro a partner in the firm, effective January 1, 2022. With the promotion, Shapiro becomes the first attorney that Glenn Agre has elevated from associate to partner since the launch of the firm in February 2021.

“This is a milestone moment, not only for Eddie, but for Glenn Agre as a firm,” said Andrew Glenn, managing partner of Glenn Agre. “This well-deserved promotion is particularly gratifying to those of us who have had the pleasure of watching Eddie grow into the highly skilled litigator he is today.”

Shapiro operates a national practice litigating commercial disputes and advising on a host of employment-related matters. In federal and state courts throughout the country, he tries commercial matters regularly involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, or violation of RICO statutes. He also advises employers, business owners, and executives on a broad range of employment matters, including issues arising from terminations and claims of discrimination. He has particular experience representing individuals and companies in New York and California in connection with allegations of sexual harassment. Shapiro also provides proactive counsel to businesses on compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws.

In recent months, Shapiro has joined Glenn Agre founding partner Lyn Agre in representing the family of Stephen Gaines, the Bay Area hip hop artist known as Baba Zumbi. Gaines, a father to three boys, died at a Berkeley hospital in August.

Before joining Glenn Agre, Shapiro practiced alongside several of his colleagues at the Am Law 200 litigation firm Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP. He also previously served as secondment counsel at KfW in Frankfurt, Germany.

Shapiro received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, and his B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is admitted to practice in both New York and California.
