Glenn Agre partner Shai Schmidt was featured in’s “How I Made Partner” Q&A series. In the Q&A, Shai discusses his advice to up-and-coming associates, who had the greatest influence on his career, and his views on successful business development, among other topics.

On successful business development, Shai notes: “I make sure to stay in touch with my existing contacts and I am always open to meeting new people and expanding my network. You never know who your next client is going to be.”

And, among other advice to up-and-coming associates, Shai recommends that “Junior associates, who may not always have much interaction with clients in the early stages of their career, should treat the partners they work with as they would their own clients…This would not only make the partner want to work with you in the future, but it would also demonstrate that you are someone whom the firm’s clients will be able to trust.”
